Ways to Pay

Pay Online (Recommended)

  • Pay with e-Check (Free)

    Pay with no processing fees and no physical check required. Just provide your bank routing and account number and your payment will be deducted from your checking account.

    1. Log onto MyFIU. See Access MyFIU for help.
    2. Select the 'Financial Account' tile. 
    3. Select 'Make a Payment.'
    4. Select 'e-Check' as your payment method.
    5. Enter your bank routing and account number. Find my bank routing and account number.
    6. You may make a partial payment by check online.
    7. Click the next button to continue with the online payment process. 

    Payments cannot be canceled once they have been submitted.

  • Pay with Debit or Credit Card (Transaction fees apply)

    Credit card payments are accepted from MasterCard, American Express, Visa, and Discover. There is a 2.65% non-refundable convenience fee applied to all domestic credit card payments and a 4.25% non-refundable convenience fee for all international credit card payments.

    Credit/debit card payment option is only available as an online service via MyFIU.

    Note: A debit card will be processed as a credit card and incur the convenience fee.

    FIU does not accept credit/debit card payments in person, over the phone, or by mail.

    The following CANNOT be processed online: credit card cash advance checks, money market checks, and home equity checks. See options to pay on campus.

    1. Log onto MyFIU. See Access MyFIU for help.
    2. Select “Financial Account,” then “Make a Payment.”
    3. Select debit or credit card as your payment method.
    4. Entering the desired payment amount. You may enter partial payments or pay the full amount.
    5. Click the next button to continue with the online payment process.

    Payments cannot be canceled once they have been submitted.

  • International Wire Payments

    FIU has partnered with Flywire to offer a streamlined and cost effective payment method to send international payments. Therefore, we ask you to send all bank transfer payments through Flywire.

    1. To get started, go to Flywire to create a Flywire login and fill out your payment details. Once the necessary information is entered, you will receive payment delivery instructions on how to send your payment to Flywire by visiting your bank (online, phone, or in person).
    2. Flywire will convert the funds and will send the amount to FIU where it will be credited to your student account. If your home currency isn’t available, you can still save by sending your payment in one of the many currencies offered.
    3. You will be able to login to your Flywire account at any time to track the progress of your payment. Once FIU receives your payment we will send you a payment confirmation email. Please note – it may take up to 3 business days to post the payment.

Pay on Campus

  • Pay at a Self-service Station

    Self-service stations accept cash, check, money order, cashier’s check or traveler’s check and are available 24/7. They are located in Primera Casa (PC) next to PC 120 (MMC), in University Towers and in the first floor of the SASC building.

    Self-service stations DO NOT accept credit or debit cards. Pay online instead.
  • Pay in Person

    The Student Financial cashier’s counter accepts cash, money orders, personal checks drawn on a U.S. financial institution in U.S. currency, cashier’s checks, traveler’s checks, and the FIU One Cards. For more instructions see below: 

    • Credit Cards: We DO NOT accept credit card payments at either campus. Pay online instead.
    • Checks: Make checks payable to the order of Florida International University and include your Panther ID number.
    • One Card: Please note if you have a balance from your book advance, you must wait 2 weeks from the time of acceptance before you can use these funds to pay for enrollment related fees. FIU One Card payments are not accepted online nor are they refundable from the cashier's counter.

Other Payments Methods

  • Pay by Mail

    Make checks payable to the order of Florida International University and include your Panther ID number. Checks and money orders can be mailed to:

  • Wire Transfer

    Visit the Account Questions window at either campus to obtain the wire transfer form.

 


What Do I Owe?

If your financial aid does not cover the full cost of tuition, fees and other educational expenses, you are obligated to pay any remaining balance. Use the following steps to see what you may owe:

  1. Log onto MyFIU. See Access MyFIU for help.
  2. Select 'Financial Account.'
  3. Click on the appropriate semester.
  4. Now calculate: Subtract the 'Charge Activity' from the 'Pending Aid Activity' to determine your balance due.

If your award is less than your fees, it is your responsibility to pay any remaining balance due before the deadline to pay, and to avoid cancellation of your courses. 

Any unwanted class should be dropped by the last day of the add/drop period to avoid liability. You will be “fee liable” for all courses on your class schedule after the add/drop deadline.

 


What If I’m Waiting For Financial Aid?

Students who have been awarded financial aid are obligated to pay the difference (charges due) between the outstanding balance and the pending aid, excluding Federal Work-Study (FWS).

Most financial aid awards are disbursed before the last day to pay. Check your MyFIU to see your account balance and keep track of the approaching deadline in the Academic Calendar.

If you applied late or turned in documents late, you may need to pay off what your account shows you owe since your awards may be delayed. After the add/drop deadline, all award will be processed and you will be issued a financial aid refund of any remaining awards due to you (including anything you pay out of pocket if your financial aid fully covers your tuition and fees).

What If I Can’t Pay?

Students who do not pay their outstanding balance will be fined a $100 late fee and will be dropped from all registered classes. But if you’re having trouble coming up with the money, you have options:

Use a Payment Plan

If you can’t pay for tuition all at once, spread out tuition into a few smaller payments over time. FIU’s tuition payment plan lets you pay off tuition in installments over 2 or 3 months with no interest.

Returned Checks and e-Checks

If a paper check or online e-check is returned by the bank for any reason, a returned check fine will be assessed based on the total amount of the check.

A check can be returned for various reasons, such as:

  • Nonsufficient funds (NSF)
  • Invalid account
  • Stop payment
  • Account not locatable

When a check is returned, you will automatically receive notification through the campus community message board and a fee will be assessed to your student account.

You will have a returned check hold manually placed on your account, which will prevent you from paying with another check. The hold will be removed once a payment has been made with cash, money order, cashier’s check, or credit card
