If the total amount of your financial aid for a semester (excluding federal work-study and alternative/private loans) exceeds the cost of tuition and fees, you may be eligible for a book advance to purchase books and supplies at the beginning of the semester.

If you qualify, you will be notified through your Panther Mail and a link to Accept/Decline Awards will be posted on MyFIU in the Task tile.

Please note, a book advance is not additional financial aid. It is simply an advance of the credit your financial aid will create once disbursed to your student account.

Book Advance funds will be available on your FIU One Card (blue-colored stripe) within 30 minutes after it is accepted online. The book advance will automatically create a charge to your Account Inquiry.

The funds are only allowed to be used at Barnes & Noble at the Bookstore until the add/drop period. After the add/drop period, any remaining funds will be transferred to the FIU One Card Cash Account to be used anywhere on campus. For more information, please visit FIU One Card Benefits
