Tuition Costs

The current tuition cost and mandatory fees may differ depending on your program of study. For more information, please click here.

Courses offered by the individual colleges may require that you enroll in a lab, or the course may require additional materials and supplies. Please consider costs associated to courses before enrollment.

The Parking and Transportation Access Fee, Health Fee, and Athletic Fee are mandatory semester fees.  The Photo ID Fee is charged at the time of enrollment and every Fall semester thereafter. These fees cannot be waived.

Parking and Transportation Access Fee

A Parking and Transportation Access Fee is assessed to all students per semester as part of their enrollment.  This fee funds maintenance of parking facilities, sidewalks, garages, emergency call boxes, bicycle rack program, lighting, etc. Additional information can be found at http://parking.fiu.edu, under the Student Access Fees link. The Parking and Transportation Access Fee also includes a virtual parking permit with proof of class enrollment, driver’s license, and car registration.

Student Health Fee

The health fee is a mandatory fee that is charged to all students as part of their enrollment each semester.  The health fee allows the University to provide high quality affordable clinical, preventative care, and mental health services at convenient on-campus locations by various departments. These departments include: Student Health Services (SHS), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Victim Empowerment Program (VEP), and Disability Resource Center (DRC). For more information, please visit the University Health Services website at http://studenthealth.fiu.edu/index.html.

The Athletic Fee

The Athletic Fee provides students access to the Recreation Center and all FIU athletic events.

The Photo ID Service Fee

The $10.00 annual, non-refundable, ID service fee is assessed as part of your tuition and fees once every academic year. It does not entitle you to a new ID card. This fee covers the cost of maintaining all the services provided by the One Card Office.

Additional information can be found at http://shop.fiu.edu/onecard/ under the Frequently Asked Questions link.

The Tuition Differential

All undergraduate students admitted after July 1, 2007 are responsible for paying the Tuition Differential. The differential tuition fee provides additional funding needed for research universities to provide competitive academic programs for undergraduate courses.

Students are responsible for meeting the payment deadlines as outlined in the official FIU Academic Calendar.  If your tuition and fees are partially covered by financial aid, you will be responsible to cover your portion before the last day to pay. FIU does not send bills via postal mail. Student communication will be done through your FIU email and through the message board at My.FIU.edu.

Late Fees

A late payment fee can be placed on a student’s account any time the student has a balance that is past the semester’s last day to pay.
