Awarding of Degree & Diploma

Degree Conferral

When you have completed the requirements for your degree and your graduation application has been approved, your transcript will be updated to show that your degree has been awarded.

After the degree is posted, the official transcript will reflect the student’s earned degree. The unofficial transcript and degree verification also reflect earned degrees. See View or Order Transcripts for instructions on how to view your degree once it's posted. Degree verifications can be requested via an enrollment verification.

Additionally, FIU offers digital diplomas (CeDiplomas) that provide secure, verified access to your degree credentials. Graduates will receive an email after graduation with instructions on how to access and share their digital diplomas.

Diplomas

Diplomas are mailed to your home address which you can update online. See how to change your address on your personal records.

The diploma is an official, legal document and must reflect your true and correct legal name. Name changes require specific documentation depending on the reason for the change. See how to change your name on your personal records.

Here are some frequently asked questions about diplomas:

Digital Diplomas (CeDiploma)

In addition to traditional diplomas, FIU offers digital diplomas, also known as CeDiplomas. These secure and verified digital documents provide graduates with a convenient way to access and share their credentials.

  • What are the benefits of CeDiplomas?

Graduates can download their digital diplomas anytime, making it easy to share with potential employers or educational institutions. Each CeDiploma comes with a unique verification code, allowing third parties to confirm its authenticity online. Digital diplomas are available at no extra charge to graduates.

  • How do I access my CeDiploma?

All graduates are automatically eligible for a digital diploma upon degree conferral. After graduation, you will receive an email with instructions on accessing your CeDiploma. For further assistance, please contact the graduation@fiu.edu.

If you have any outstanding obligations to the institution, you will not be eligible for the CeDiploma. Note that this service to students began with graduates from the Summer term of 2024 and is not retroactive.
