This program guarantees 100% tuition and fees for Florida residents with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of 0 or less. FIU will use a combination of federal, state, and FIU grants/scholarships to ensure 100% coverage of tuition and fees for Florida residents with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of 0 or less.
The Golden Promise initiative will provide grants to cover up to 30 credits per year, 120 credits (4 years), for eligible recipients who meet the following criteria:
- Registered for at least 12 credits each semester (15 credits recommended)
- Complete 30 credit hours each year
- Earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 higher at the end of each semester
Requirements
- Be a first-time-in-college freshman (who started in early fall 2017 or later) or
- Be a new transfer student (who started in fall 2023 or later)
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Be a Florida resident
- Submit the FAFSA prior to enrollment at FIU
- Have less than or equal to 0 Student Aid Index (SAI)
*For summer funding a minimum enrollment of 6 credit hours is required.
