Late Registration Fee

A student who initiates registration during the Add/Drop period for the session is assessed a $100.00 late registration fee.

A late registration fee waiver request must be submitted within two weeks of initial registration for the semester.

The Office of the Registrar will consider requests for a waiver only if a student registers late due to circumstances determined by the University to be exceptional and beyond the control of the student. Students must provide documentation concerning the incident that prevented registering on time. The late registration fee WILL NOT BE WAIVED for:

  • Students who have been reinstated after having the semester course load dropped for non-payment.
  • Waiting for seats in a closed class to become available.

How to Submit

Follow directions on the late registration fee waiver form below. You must submit all supporting documentation with your request. Failure to submit supporting documentation will delay the review and the request may be rejected or denied.

  1. Log in to your MyFIU
  2. Click on the Student Tools tile
  3. Click on the Document Upload tile
  4. Select REGISTRATION, LATE REGISTRATION FEE WAIVER from the drop-down menus
  5. Attach form and any supporting documentation
  6. Submit
